The Sandbox, one of the leading metaverse platforms, has recently announced the launch of a special event in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year. The event, which will run from January 18th to February 28th, aims to bring together the Chinese metaverse community and offer an immersive experience with a wide range of activities and prizes.
One of the main highlights of the event is the massive pool of 200,000 SAND, which will be distributed among participants through various activities and challenges. In addition to this, the event will also feature in-game NFT prizes, virtual “Chinese Dragon mystery boxes”, and memorabilia. These mystery boxes will contain limited PFPs and premium LANDs, which are highly sought after in the metaverse.
To make the event even more special, The Sandbox has partnered with several well-known brands and studios based in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China. These brands include Softstar and Alpacadabraz (Taiwan); PCCW, MTR, Sun Hung Kai & Co., and McDull (Hong Kong); and The CGame and Chili Game (Mainland China). Each of these brands will bring their unique experiences and IPs to the metaverse, allowing players to explore new worlds and participate in various activities.
One of the first experiences players will encounter is MetaChinatown, where they can meet partners and creators from the Chinese community and celebrate the Lunar New Year. Another experience called the Chord Hero Music Gallery will allow players to combine an exhibition of NFT artwork with a charity in the metaverse. This innovative project will boost players’ interest in learning music. Players can also explore the world of McDull and his friends, enjoying the spectacular scenes, iconic buildings, and fascinating food culture.
MTR will also make its debut in the metaverse by taking participants on a time-traveling journey between the futuristic MTR metaverse railway station and the 1980s Choi Hung Station. PCW-HKT Futurera will also be available for players to explore, and they can also experience The Legend of Sword and Fairy.
Starting from January 24th, players can explore other experiences like Alpacadabraz, Chill Game, Little Fighter, nspace WMCC, Sun Hung Kai & Co: Nonstop Sailing, and The Silk road. In addition, there will be an outlet for users to purchase brand new NFTs.
